Tau Index integrates numerous technology and socioeconomic factors to create a relative look at how well the 143 nations we examine are building their national ICT infrastructures given the resources they have. This is not an absolute ranking, but instead measure relative progress given a country's existing wealth, socioeconomic condition, and relative cost of living. The leaders in this index come from diverse income tiers and locations.
Tau Tech-First Index focuses on technology factors only. The leaders in this index tend to be countries that are making significant technological progress in the face of large socioeconomic impediments.
Tau Frontier Index takes the third mathematical derivatives of our Tau Index to measure “the change in the rate of change,” that is, how quickly nations are being developed at the present moment. Leaders in this index tend to be nations from Frontier Markets that are making immediate progress that's not recognized by traditional measurements.
Tau Goldilocks Nations are steadily being developed at just the right pace--they are neither too hot nor too cold. Technology can disrupt, so in contrast to the Goldilocks nations, countries running too hot may be in for rough times while those running too cold are in the doldrums. We also highlight places that show real-time development at just the right pace. This index indicates safe-harbor investment nations.
Tau Relative Challenge Index tracks the per-person challenge of improving ICT infrastructure facing each of the 143 nations.
Tau Overall Challenge Index takes overall population into account to measure the entire scope of the challenge to improve a nation's ICT infrastructure.
Our research takes the unique approach of comparing national IT infrastructure and ecosystems on a relative, rather than absolute, basis.
Even the best of the traditional consulting and research companies look at their data and weight their factors in absolute terms.
On the other hand, Tau Global Research uses mathematical derivatives to create relative ratings that address two fundamental questions: How well is a country doing given its existing resources? How do a series of technology and socioeconomic factors influence one another?
This approach provides a "pound-for-pound" view of the 144 nations we study. It establishes leaders in every income tier and region, and allows countries of great similarity and great difference to be compared fairly.
Tau Global Research uncovers diamonds in the rough, rising stars, established leaders, and laggards that may surprise users of tradtional research.
